I've got this dvd. Marco has amazing independence and creativity. I highly recommend getting it. The rhythms in all of his songs are so complicated, i have no idea whats going on half of the time.

Marco is my favorite of the new crop of 'chops guys'. He seems more musical to me. He seems as if he has derived his chops from working on music first and then developing the chops to pull of ideas that he has come up with, rather than pulling off chops and then coming up with applicable arenas for them.
He and Virgil have been working with a flamenco guitarist named Dan Sistos... interesting stuff for sure. Erskine has done some work with this project (or a version of), i believe. The project is called Das Ueberschall, there is a live recording of Marco and the group, consisting of: Dirk K and Dan Sistos on guitars, J.K. Kleutgens on bass, and Marco on drums. Could someone explain me what is his bass drum "system" ??
